The Basics: The Best Anti Aging Skin Care

There are face lifts and collagen injections and botox that can help to prevent the signs of aging, as well as a host of several skin care products on the market today may help reduce the signs of aging. These are all great things, but skin the best anti aging skin care starts right now and from using basic products and strategies.

The First and Most Important Skin Care Product: Sunscreen

As tempting as it may be to have the hottest tan amongst all of your friends, resist! The sun does you absolutely no favors past the age of 35. That really bad sun burn you had at 15 will come back to haunt you and regular tanning either outside or in a tanning bed will haunt you even worse.

When ever you are going out for the day, whether it is in the dead of winter or in the middle of summer, use sun block. SPF 15 is often not strong enough for those with fair to medium complexions, so bump it up to at least an SPF of 30. Use this on your face, but also take care to use it on your hands and arms. No, you won’t notice the benefits of using sun screen immediately, but 20 years down the road when you are still wrinkle-free and your friends are “pruning” up, you’ll know exactly why you’ve been able to maintain your youthful looks.

Work It from the Inside Out

What we put into our bodies every day plays a huge role in how wonderful our skin looks. If you eat greasy foods, chances are you will end up with oily skin that is prone to acne. If you eat a lot of sugars, you may be faced with pimples. If you do not drink enough water, you can develop rather annoying skin issues such as eczema.

So before you eat that hamburger from your favorite fast food joint, stop and think of the affect that has on your skin. Eating foods that are rich in nutrients and omega 3 fatty acids (such as salmon and nuts) will keep your skin looking younger and more fresh. Eating a hamburger, on the other hand, will leave you looking greasy and will also be an open invitation for hazardous chemicals to enter into your body. Any toxins and pollutants will only advance your signs of aging, so try to eat as naturally as possible.

Another important thing that we often forget is that our bodies need water – and this includes our skin! Drink at least 6 glasses a day, preferably 8 to 10, to really keep your skin looking great.

Natural Products are Best

There are a whole lot of anti aging products out there that promise to do this, that, and what ever else by use of chemically engineered ingredients – but are these really good for us? Some times the best thing to do for our skin is to keep it as natural as possible. Using your own facial oils (if you have slightly oily skin) will keep your skin looking younger for a long while. Or you can try using something such as extra virgin olive oil to really hydrate your skin and help maintain its youthful glow!
